The Art of Universal Alchemy

Tonight, I’m feeling a little..mystical. Which seems to be the case on a regular basis for me to be completely honest with you. And BOY do I enjoy a good intellectual challenge!

My mystical feeling may be due to the fact that I just had a much-needed binaural beats session. If you’re not hip to the sound frequencies used to stimulate your brain and enhance your body overall, you’re definitely missing out. It’s like turning your hands into pure energy and massaging your brain from the inside. In my experience as the visualization expert that I am, I say that quite literally.

Another factor that has me on one tonight is one of my current reads, which is part of the inspiration for this blog post. Yep, you guessed it, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

It took me a good two months or so to actually stop brushing off the obvious confirmations that I needed to read this book and to actually just go and GET the book. (We can be so stubborn for NO reason when it comes to the signs that the Universe gives us, can’t we?) I’m almost halfway through and am REALLY enjoying it so far. My spirit is checking the mess out of me with each page I read! I wish I could give you guys a full review on it already but, in the meantime, I’ll let my good friend Gillateen give you the inside scoop in under 3 minutes:

So what exactly IS alchemy?

alchemy1

In the simplest of definitions, alchemy is basically a skill in learning how to be a BEAST at transmuting different properties. Back in the day (way..way back), the art of alchemy was always commonly known with turning base metals or lead into gold. We’ve all seen some rendition of this in movies or shows. A mad scientist of sorts, in his lab with all kinds of chemical concoctions and gadgets trying to transform something that otherwise would be rendered useless into something that is shiny, valuable and priceless. What makes alchemy so intriguing and mysterious is that it isn’t an instant thing and, on its most fundamental scientific level, it’s a code that hasn’t been completely cracked yet. As a matter of fact, it takes a good amount of time in refining fires for an alchemist to achieve the desired result. So as you can see, becoming an alchemist is not your typical yellow brick road to lollipops and gumdrops.

Here’s where it gets interesting…

The folks at Live Science break it on down while they explain how this ancient practice transcends its own meaning into the metaphysical realm:

“..ancient alchemists did not seek to change base metals into gold simply out of greed; as Drury notes, “The alchemists did not regard all metals as equally mature or ‘perfect.’ Gold symbolized the highest development in nature and came to personify human renewal and regeneration. A ‘golden’ human being was resplendent with spiritual beauty and had triumphed over the lurking power of evil. The basest metal, lead, represented the sinful and unrepentant individual who was readily overcome by the forces of darkness … If lead and gold both consisted of fire, air, water, and earth, then surely by changing the proportions of the constituent elements, lead could be transformed into gold. Gold was superior to lead because, by its very nature, it contained the perfect balance of all four elements.”

Coming from medieval beliefs, this symbolism is cut and dry with a hint of religious spices added up in it, but I assure you its much deeper than that. At the core, the art of alchemy requires faith, patience and an understanding of universal laws. The urge to transform something starts from a thought and then eventually manifests into the physical realm with the help of intention and focus. Taking the intangible and making it tangible. Contrary to popular belief, it’s something that we are ALL capable of doing on a regular basis in our lives, it just takes the building of skill to really hone it.

Well what makes it universal?

Flexin'.

Flexin’.

When I say “universal”, it doesn’t necessarily mean going straight Mr. Manhattan on everybody, discovering all there is to everything and then deciding to make your own contraption on another planet because humans bore you now. In this case, universal would mean utilizing the art of alchemy in many facets of your life. Realizing that YOU have the power WITHIN to take a negative and turn it into a positive like it ain’t nothing. Whether it be manifesting a new job from the one your currently can’t stand, or being able to walk into a room and change the energetic climate just with the light resonated within you, it’s important to remember that you are a co-creator in all of this. YOU have the power to shift your reality. And for the things left up to the Universe that you CAN’T control (depending on how you look at it), YOU also have the power to be made aware of all the messages and confirmations being sent to guide you.

…does this really work? *side-eye*

Of course it does! I wouldn’t be writing about something I didn’t believe in. If you’re still not convinced, I can tell you that I’ve used the art of alchemy in my life –in my recent interview for a higher position to be exact– and not only did I completely shut down any doubts that I was the perfect candidate for the position, but I also got EXACTLY the salary I wanted with no hesitation or negotiation. In my own little subtle way, when asked what I thought one of my strengths were, I affirmed to them out loud that I was an alchemist. You do the math.

So in closing, I want to leave you with this affirmation for the rest of week:

“Everything I TOUCH turns to gold!”

Watch how the Universe comes through in the clutch for ya.
